• The Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives has unveiled a plan to cut hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicaid and remove millions of Americans from the health insurance program. In addition to providing health care coverage for more than 70 million people, Medicaid also supports jobs for millions of workers.

• Teachers in Northampton, Massachusetts have started a “work-to-rule” campaign to protest school budget cuts.

• The Postal Service Board of Governors picked FedEx board member David Steiner to head the United States Postal Service. FedEx is a union busting company and a competitor to USPS, and watchdogs see Steiner’s selection as a step towards privatization of the post office. The National Association of Letter Carriers has slammed the pick, as Steiner has a track record of supporting union busting.

• National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health employees wrote to Congress warning that staffing cuts at their agency will lead to preventable workplace injuries and even deaths.
