Trump works to gut labor regulations

• New York farms are refusing to abide by union contracts – among the first to be reached since the state legalized farmworker collective bargaining in 2019. It remains to be seen how far the state labor board will go in forcing them to follow the contracts.

• Trump’s Labor Department is proposing to slash more than 60 regulations, “including eliminating overtime and minimum wage protections for home health care workers and union organizing rights for migrant farmworkers,” the Washington Post reports. “So far, the Labor Department proposed rulemaking has not addressed hot-button issues surrounding independent contractors, prevailing wage standards and sustainable and ethical retirement investing rules.”
